Finished! And...a rocking chair.

Last night I was finally able to finish that last baby bootie. I boxed up my silent auction item for the Lieym Bovee benefit...and here it is!

And here is a photo of the booties, up close:

I'm really happy with how they both turned out and I hope to finish the felted purse with needle felting that I plan to also donate for the benefit. I hope they make a good sale and the family is able to use the money for their medical expenses/travel/whatever they need to use it for to make their lives easier.

Did I ever tell you about the rocking chair I dug out of someone's garbage pile? I know it sounds awful, but I asked them first! Our town had major flooding a few months ago and people had feet upon feet of water in their basement. Some people didn't get it so bad, but still used this time to get their unwanted items out to the curb because the city came around and picked up everyone's junk. Two houses down sits this beautiful old rocking chair - I couldn't believe my eyes!! The only issue was one of the rocking pieces (not sure what the technical term is for those) was broken off, but there is sat - right next to the chair itself. So, I made the entire family walk down there with me and I asked our neighbor if I could just take that chair right out of their garbage pile and of course they didn't mind at all.
My surgeon's husband stays at home with their children, but is a carpenter by trade, and so I asked him if he could repair it. He was happy to do so, and it is as good as new!! It is such a nice chair, and I'm happy to have it. Plus it was free. And, I just love "free".

Isn't it beautiful???
